SECAP: About the Sustainability Element
What Is the Sustainability Element?
The Sustainability Element is an update to the City’s General Plan that aims to incorporate a balance between social, environmental, and economic goals and ideas. This element will highlight Elk Grove’s focus on the current and future quality of life within the city.
The Elk Grove community will provide the City with a local definition of sustainability and the issues that we face and help us find the solutions for striking a balance among its goals. The Sustainability Element will work in concert with existing General Plan policies and programs and will provide guidance for both government and private actions. The Sustainability Element, once it is finalized, becomes part of the General Plan and is in effect until a new plan is created (likely beyond 2020).
