The list below describes each of the previous workshops for the Rural Road Improvement Standards. Meeting agenda, handouts, and meeting summary notes are also provided in the box to the right of each workshop description.

Workshop #1: Kick Off Meeting
Tuesday, October 17th, 6:30 PM - 8:30PM, City Hall
The purpose of this workshop was to introduce stakeholders, discuss project objectives and approach, and to understand the community vision and issues. At this workshop, residents discussed their objectives and concerns with the limitation on the scope of the project. The project team also solicit feedback regarding planned communication and outreach for the process.
 
Workshop #2: Project Understanding and Refinement
Monday, November 27th - Pleasant Grove Elementary School
The project team presented a comprehensive list of issues to be addressed in the Rural Road Improvement Standards and asked for feedback on additional items. Other issues outside the project scope were also discussed, along with the approach to forward those recommendations to City decision makers in conjunction with the Rural Road Improvement Standard
 
Workshop #3: Rural Road Improvement Policy and Standards, Visual Preference Survey
Monday, January 8th, 6:30pm to 8:30pm, City Hall Council Chambers
The project team (including consultant experts) provided information about street lighting and traffic circles/roundabouts. The project team also introduced a staff-recommended Rural Road Improvement Policy for phased roadway improvements based on volumes, delays, and safety issues – to be considered in conjunction with the Rural Road Improvement Standards. The project team provided a Draft outline for the Rural Road Improvement Standards and asked residents to take a Visual Preference Survey on seven specific key topic areas for the design standards.
 

Workshop #4: Continuing Work on Rural Road Improvement Policy and Standards
Monday, February 20th, 6:30pm to 8:30pm, City Hall Council Chambers

The project team (including City Police Officers) provided information about speed limits and truck routes. The project team reiterated the staff-recommended Rural Road Improvement Policy for phased roadway improvements based on volumes, delays, and safety issues and presented some generic examples of a phased intersection improvement. Finally, the project team and participants discussed the results of the Visual Preference Survey.

 

Workshop #5: Continuing Work on Rural Road Improvement Policy and Standards
Monday, March 20th, 6:30pm to 9:00pm, City Hall Council Chambers

The project team provided an update on the status of the Rural Road Improvement Policy for phased roadway improvements based on volumes, delays and safety issues.  Additional information was provided regarding the use of traffic circles and roundabouts.  Finally, the project team handed out a draft annotated outline of the Rural Roads Improvement Standards document. 

 
Workshop #6: Continuing Work on Rural Road Improvement Policy and Standards
Tuesday, May 8th, 7:00pm to 9:00pm, City Hall Council Chambers

The project team provided and discussed the traffic count information that was collected in March.  An annotated outline of the Rural Road Policy was presented to the residents which listed out the timing (by traffic counts) of the phased roadway improvements.  Finally, the project team led a discussion and gathered comments on the annotated outline of the Rural Road Improvement Standards that was handed out at the March 20th meeting. 
 
Workshop #7: Presentation/Discussion of Public Draft Documents
Tuesday, June 19, 7:00pm to 9:00pm, City Hall Council Chambers

The project team provided and discussed the Public Drafts (dated 6/19/07) of the Rural Road Improvement Policy and Rural Road Improvement Standards documents. Planning staff also provided an overview of the City of Elk Grove Trails Master Plan.
 
Workshop #8: Discussion and Presentation of Revised Draft Documents (dated July 17, 2007)
The project team reviewed the comments received and presented revised drafts of the Rural Road Improvement Policy and the Rural Road Improvement Standards documents dated July 17th , 2007.  Lighting options were also presented and commented on by the group in attendance at the meeting.
